Job Description

Outpost QA is looking for a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to focus on one of the most competitive products in the industry. As a Senior SDET, you will own the test automation and quality efforts for entire product areas or major features. You will architect and optimize automation frameworks, lead test strategy for complex systems, and regularly collaborate across teams to deliver reliable and high-quality releases. This role offers the opportunity to mentor others, drive cross-functional quality improvements, and play a critical part in shaping the future of our engineering excellence.

This position sits with an international team and will focus on system integration and product testing against requirements by building automation platforms, frameworks, automated tests, auto-reporting mechanisms, and simulators. You will engage with the development team to apply Continuous Integration and Deployment methodology to our products, significantly increasing the coverage and robustness of automated test cases. You’ll also aid in the design and development of test plans and test cases used to evaluate product performance and establish benchmarks, and drive the selection and adoption of automated test tools, frameworks, and best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Create test automation platforms, automate test cases, and automation scripts under Microsoft Windows, Linux, as well as other web-based environments to test system requirements
  • Design and develop software simulators to enable the verification of internal and external protocols and API’s
  • Perform assignments of the engineering test function, including requirement analysis, test plan development, and test case creation and execution on complex products and systems
  • Work closely with the development team to define, create, and maintain robust Continuous Integration (CI) methods
  • Work closely with the development team to define and ensure the needed test points and hooks are implemented for successful test automation
  • Mentor other team members on test methodology, tools, frameworks, and test practices
  • Establish criteria for the evaluation of test equipment required to perform quality assurance and test functions

Skills and Qualifications

  • Intermediate/advanced English (B2 or higher) for communication with international teams.
  • Minimum five (5) years of SDET work experience, including hands-on coding experience
  • Strong design and coding skills using Python
  • Understand technical specifications, write test cases based on design specifications, and execute test cases
  • Understand data structures and software engineering concepts
  • Experience in Windows-based development with Microsoft Visual Studio
  • Experience in Linux scripting, DevOps processes, and different test automation runs as part of the pipeline
  • Have written detailed test reports and defect reports for Sr. Leadership as well as team
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively on test assignments and in a cross-functional environment with Product Managers, Dev Leads, Dev Director, and Field Engineers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to convey information clearly and accurately
  • Advanced knowledge of systems analysis, design, development process, and management
  • Strong analytical skills with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to adapt and respond positively and effectively to change, delay, and/or shifting priorities and goals

Nice to have

  • IP network/VoIP experience
  • A high degree of self-motivation and initiative
  • Having led a team of engineers
  • Experience in HW/SW System Development or Test, or in designing Telecom, Radio, or Network communication systems, preferred
