Job Description

Outpost QA is a startup in Mazatlán, Sinaloa. We are dedicated to software quality assurance. Our goal is to help companies improve their digital products through manual and automated testing strategies, ensuring their applications’ functionality, stability, and performance. As an Automation Tester Level 2 at Outpost QA, you will take ownership of test automation tasks across multiple product areas, working closely with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to deliver stable and reliable releases. You will design and implement automated test solutions, contribute to framework improvements, and help raise the quality bar across our engineering organization. This role is ideal for a mid-career engineer who is eager to grow, take initiative, and make a meaningful impact in a fast-paced QA environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts for web and API-based applications using modern frameworks such as Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium.
  • Collaborate with developers and product teams to define test strategies, identify test scenarios, and ensure adequate coverage during sprint planning and feature development.
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI) to enable continuous quality feedback.
  • Leverage AI-assisted testing tools and LLM-powered automation frameworks (e.g., Stagehand, Testim, or similar) to accelerate test creation and improve script resilience.
  • Perform functional, regression, and exploratory testing to identify and report defects clearly and accurately.
  • Analyze test failures, investigate root causes, and work with developers to resolve issues efficiently.
  • Produce clear and concise test reports, documenting results, coverage, and identified risks.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of testing processes, frameworks, and best practices.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Requeriments

  • Intermediate/advanced English (B2 or higher) for effective communication with international teams.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in software testing or quality assurance, with at least 2 years focused on test automation.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one modern web automation framework (Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium).
  • Proficiency in TypeScript or JavaScript for writing and maintaining automated test scripts.
  • Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with API testing tools such as Postman, REST Assured, or similar.
  • Understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies (Scrum or Kanban).
  • Ability to write clear test plans, test cases, and defect reports based on functional and technical specifications.
  • Basic understanding of AI-driven testing concepts and exposure to tools that use natural language or LLM-based approaches to automate web interactions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

  • Experience with AI-powered testing tools such as Stagehand, Testim, Mabl, or similar platforms that interpret natural language to interact with web elements.
  • Familiarity with performance or load testing tools (e.g., k6, JMeter, Locust).
  • Knowledge of version control systems and branching strategies using Git.
  • Experience with cloud testing platforms (e.g., BrowserStack, Sauce Labs).
  • Understanding of accessibility testing standards and tools (e.g., axe, Lighthouse).
  • Interest in staying current with emerging QA technologies, including generative AI applications in software testing.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage tasks independently and proactively communicate blockers or risks.
